Iiittttsss LUNA! <3 My fave pony like ... ever ♥ Took me about .. 5 hours to paint this, not including sketching and scribbling time xD Probably the only drawing in my gallery that i'm actually proud of And it's my 2nd time drawing ponies! Yaaay!
Typing in the word 'Luna' in deviantart resulted in this popping up, catching my eye. Let's start off with the hair: I love the wispy strays, the purplish night tips, adding more feeling of depth. The shading on the hair (the light parting in the middle) gives it a more realistic feel, yet retaining the feeling of digital art. The mane appears to be vanishing into the sky, like it would match the starts in your background. Flowing from her bangs in a great contrast. Next: The face. I love the shape of the ears, the slight pointedness in 2 small tips you have on the end, split in the middle. The shading on the other ear i feel is a bit dark, but when i first glanced at the picture it didn't bother me. Maybe try using a purplish navy to shade the backdropped ear? The horn: Nice twisting motion, just like Luna had in her episode debut. Eyes: Lovely drowned out teal, like shes filling her eyes with the night sky as she flies around. It fits with the expression. The eyelashes are a bit bold, but they fit with her personality, and i would only darken them if you feel that way. The expression on the small grin (almost a sly-like smile) As if she's in her favorite surroundings, safe and happy. The neck: This was the only real problem i noticed, (not even that big of one) The shading on the right side middle made it look a bit like she had a crick in her neck, so i might light a bit and spread out the shading. Lovely angle and tilt, though. Finally, the background: I love the purplish fog. LOVE IT. It adds to the purplish tints you put in here and there. As if the accents were reflecting from the fog. The starts are in good place, not to stand-out-ish. Overall, a wondering picture. I've never seen Luna drawn like the style before. ***** five starts
This is very good but the eyes are well they just seem fake no soul behind them but I do like how the mane trails off into the stars that was very good and luna also looks more relaxed then she usually looks and also the eyelashes look very natural as well as the mouth and the posture however with that said the horn looks like there is no patern. What I mean is the horn is like a narwhales; a long spiraled horn that has an engraved spiral but also it depends on the artists style. The verdict: very good but you could use some work on shading like around the crown and on the face. But very well done and very original.
